Jewish Life

Camp Nageela prides itself on creating a Jewish haven for kids from across the country and beyond. Families that send their children to Camp Nageela identify with all affiliations: reform, conservative and orthodox. All campers join together for a 3 week camp experience where each and every child is loved and accepted.

In Camp Nageela, Jewish life isn’t taught, it’s caught. Jewish values and ideals are integrated into our daily program. Campers are also offered a choice of learning sessions catering to each child’s Jewish background knowledge. It is our goal in Camp Nageela that each and every child returns home infused with Jewish pride.

It is our pleasure at Camp Nageela to help facilitate your child’s Jewish learning while in camp. Camp Nageela will provide tutors to help your child in any area of Jewish learning free of charge. Camp Nageela also organizes and arranges Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparations and ceremonies in camp and throughout the year.

Camp Nageela has a special program on Shabbat. Shabbat begins with a moving Kabbalat Shabbat late Friday afternoon, preceded by a music video with footage taken throughout that week. and concludes with a Havdallah ceremony on Saturday night. The program throughout the day is different than the rest of the week, and campers enjoy special activities only done on Shabbat. Shabbat meals feature traditional favorites- including fresh baked challah, gefilte fish, matza ball soup and cholent! It is customary in Camp Nageela that campers dress nicely on Shabbat.
